Governance, Chicago Style

h/t JakeW, via Smitty over at The Other McCain, by way of Moonbattery, originally plucked from Americans For Prosperity

In this chart you see a clear pattern of behavior established by this president.

It’s like leap frog. If by leap frog you mean ritualistic abuse of the Constitution.

Rep Pence: “America, we can win this fight!”

H/t to Dan Riehl for the video.

A minority in congress plus the American people equals a majority … America, we can win this fight.

Republicans in Congress are hitting their stride at just the right time in this debate. The Democrats and the Obama administration are facing precipitous drops in there polling in general and in 2010 electoral polling specifically.

The media arms of the Democrat Party are doing their best to get the appropriate message out, only to find that “I won” isn’t as compelling as it once was.

As we move forward, and more come to reject the Unicorn and Pixie dust style of governance ever embraced by the Democrat Party, we will see clearly their frustration. We will see it as they abuse their constituents. We will see it as they abuse their own caucus. And most of all, we will see it in the disregard they show for the Constitution.

We will see all of this and be tempted to give up, but we must not.

In those times we should remember the words of Rep. Pence and others like him.

A minority in congress plus the American people equals a majority … America, we can win this fight.

Things Are Getting Heated On The Hill

I distinctly heard the sound of a switchblade opening there.

This is it, the battle has taken shape and the lines have clearly been drawn. The Republicans, apparently led by the more conservative members, are turning up the heat.

Those in the House should think long and hard as to whether this is the road they wish to travel.

For the sake of the Nation, I hope they choose wisely*.

90 Seconds to Gov’t Run Healthcare

Failure Distilled

I think the NRCC did a fantastic job with this. It would be proper to let them know.

Consider this an Open Thread.

Why Sen. Bob Bennett Must Go

I was on a conference call earlier today.  A couple of the guests were Sen. Bob Bennett and Rep. Eric Cantor.  Sen. Bennett talked about the political chicanery taking place with the HCR bill currently dying a horrific death in the House.  Rep. Cantor also spoke on the HCR package.  In addition Rep. Cantor mentioned the unilateral earmark moratorium the House Republicans passed.

Sen. Bennett had a difficult time with the automated phone system, well to tell you the truth … the man got pwned.

Completely and utterly.

First the Senator was muted and the techs couldn’t get him on.  Then once Sen. Bennett was finally able to be heard, well, the automated system began it’s mockery.  The lovely voice coming from the machine kept talking over Sen. Bennett.  At one point I could tell the Senator was getting frustrated as he raised his voiced and then just conceded that he should quit listening to the voice in his ear.  Boy, if I had a nickel for everytime I have been told to not listen to the voices in my ear.

Anyway, after the awesome display of technological pwnage over Sen Bennett, he was still willing to take questions.  Unfortunately the first and only question would be from me.

I then introduced myself to Sen. Bennett and proceeded to ask my question.

The Debate Is Over, Only The Vote Remains **Update**

**UPDATE**
Here is the Obamacare Hotline’s House Whip Count updated daily. Thank you Saul Anuzis
**ENDUPDATE**

This isn’t going to be an overly long post because, as one might infer from the title, all that can/could or should be said about the ponies and pixie dust plan of Health Care Reform has already been said.

The President knows this to be true as well …

The majority of what I saw in that video was nothing more than rank fear mongering, tactics which the progressive left has successfully been painting as the modus operandi of the right for years.

The general push of these tactics today are that if Obamacare is not passed, then from this day forward your chances of having healthcare when you need it are somehow less.

Really?

I suppose that is a step back for this President. After all, he did imply that Dr.’s were hacking off perfectly healthy feet and ripping out perfectly healthy tonsils just to make a profit.

I understand why the President is doing this though, and so does Nancy Pelosi.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, is aiming to have the House of Representatives pass the Senate’s health care bill by March 17.

A separate package of changes designed in part to make the overall measure more palatable to House liberals then would be approved by both chambers through a legislative maneuver known as reconciliation. Bills passed under reconciliation require a Senate majority of 51 votes. Democrats lost their filibuster-proof, 60-seat Senate supermajority with the January election of Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts.

They know that if they don’t strike now, they will have lost this opportunity for another generation. As has been noted by many, reconcilliation is an after the fact fix that will never see the light of day. The Administration is going for the end goal here and they are engaging in classic fearmongering to get there.

I wanted to address this before I begin my general ‘fisking” … now let us begin.

Andrew Breitbart, Max Blumenthal, Tommy Christopher and Daryle Jenkins walk into a bar…

It's a classical reference.

This last weekend at CPAC, as many of you have no doubt heard, there was a verbal smackdown extraordinaire put on by Andrew Breitbart. This smackdown was administered to not one, not two, but three left wing media hacks.

Max Blumenthal, as Erick put it here, is a lying hack. I really have nothing to add to what Erick or Breitbart had to say on Max.

For Tommy, let’s just say he is fun to have a beer with … and laugh and laugh and laugh at.

Now on to the real villain of our story today. Daryle Lamont Jenkins. You see, Andrew wasn’t the only one who got into it with Jenkins. During the Breitbart smackdown, I was standing directly behind Jenkins. You can see me in the videos, I am the guy in the orange sweater and blue hat.

Anyhow, after the smackdown Jenkins didn’t leave the venue. He had gone off to the side of the pavilion and was now talking to a friend of mine. I politely walked over and eventually engaged. Before we go to the tape, a little background.

First, I had no idea who this Jenkins guy was beyond being a lefty blogger. My intent in engaging him was for him to admit that he was there for the purpose of calling Breitbart a racist. Little did I know that this is what this guy does. Jenkins has been running a smear shop under the guise of being some sort of adjudicator of what is and is not racist. He has an entire “Rogue’s Gallery” of those he has branded racists. In Philly, Jenkins even implied that Joey Vento was some sort of racist for wanting to make english mandatory in his own business [h/t skye820].

You can see the despicable techniques used by One People’s Project to gather “content” for their “Rogue’s Gallery” as documented on Flopping Aces, again, by Skye.

Here is one part that definitely stuck out…

Current and past personal data including date and place of birth, home and business addresses and phone numbers, Social Security numbers, automobile plate numbers, names and birth dates of spouse(s), children and friends. Again, certain information, such as Social Security numbers, while extremely helpful, will not be published.

Criminal records, including driving record, mug shots, and fingerprint card.

Civil suit record, including informative depositions and divorce file (if any).

Any upcoming court appearances.

I thought about emphasizing the important parts in that, but then realized it would lose the intended effect.

Now, on to the tape!

Patrick Leahy Has No Shame

This is a title, not news.

As related earlier by Moe Lane, the Obama DOJ has exonerated Yoo and Bybee. And just like clock work, enter Sen Patrick Leahy (D-VT)

Leahy condemned the report’s findings Monday.

“The deeply flawed legal opinions proffered by these former [Office of Legal Counsel] officials created a ‘golden shield’ that sought to protect from scrutiny and prosecution the Bush administration’s torture of detainees in U.S. custody,” Leahy said in a statement. “In drafting and signing these unsound legal analyses, OLC attorneys sanctioned torture, contrary to our domestic anti-torture laws, our international treaty obligations and the fundamental values of this country.”

If senators had known about Bybee’s role in creating these polices before his confirmation to the lifetime appoint to the federal bench, he would never have been confirmed, Leahy asserted.

“The right thing to do would be for him to resign from this lifetime appointment,” he added

It must be awful living in a world where everyone is conspiring against you … even the Obama DOJ.

Sen. Leahy should reconsider his desire to focus on this non-issue while the people of Vermont struggle with a depressed economy.

Or not.

Another option is for Sen. Leahy to continue down this path of irrelevance, thus opening the door to his Republican challenger Len Britton. Len Britton is a local small business owner who has stepped up to the challenge of 2010. He intends to be a true citizen legislator who has no intentions of staying in D.C. any longer than absolutely needed.

When I asked the Britton campaign for a response to Sen Leahy’s intentions this was the reply:

The world changed after the events of September 11, 2001 and we were in
certain uncharted waters. I agree with the findings of President Obama’s
Department of Justice - this matter should be concluded now. Washington
insiders should stop playing politics and start focusing on the issues that
matter most to Americans - out of control spending, fixing the economy and
most importantly putting Americans back to work

That is an appealing contrast, no?

My Response to Joseph Farrah

Issues, not technicalities.

This weekend, at the National Tea Party Convention, Joseph Farrah addressed the crowd and claimed that the search for Bambi’s birth certificate is a valid arm of conservative activism. Below is my response.

While the constitutional issue is there still and could still be tested, the truth of it is … it doesn’t matter electorally. The voters don’t give a whit about that, they just want to take out some justice in the voting booth. We have to beat the left on issues not technicalities and until we beat them on issues they will control the dialog. The people are awake and the crapweasels in Washington are about to get the rug pulled out from underneath them. I believe that it’s going to be a tsunami not a wave.

All we need is for them to do…no no…try a few more things, and we will take back the House for sure and have an actual chance at the Senate. If not, at least a lot of good new conservatives, of varying degrees, in the Senate. Such as, Toomey, DeVore, Rubio, Williams, and possibly some outside chances like Rand Paul and JD Hayworth [I know Becker, I am positing a best case scenario, don't rain on my parade right now ;) ]. Obama triangulated himself into a tight corner and now he has no options, at least no options that won’t expose him as a socialist-style dictator, lacking the skill of Il Duce and the commitment of Stalin of course.
